A Toast to Mom: Add Wine to Your Baskets

wine.jpgIf you reside in a state that allows you to include alcoholic beverages in your gift baskets, check out this article I saw in the Dallas Morning News. Full Story

Some winemakers are taking a stab at capturing the lucative women’s market with wines called Madhousewife, 2004 and Mommy’s Timeout. You can decide if these are too irreverent for your tastes, but these might be a great addition to your next basket to be sent to Mom.

Make sure you check the rules and regulations in your state before using any alcoholic beverages in your baskets.

Wine makers nationwide are pushing for more-lenient rules on selling and shipping wine between states. That won’t immediately benefit designers who make gift baskets at home, but it may set the tone for new laws in the future that are more accommodating.

Do you think that women were asked their opinions on these new wine names? Perhaps the name Madhousewife takes its cue from popular television and cable shows, but I’m not sure about Mommy’s Timeout.

I can see it now: baby crying, toddler pulling a tantrum, mommy taking a timeout.
