In addition to more traditional employee evaluations, the Postal Service intends to use gift cards as a way to motivate and reward workers. Go to GiftCertificates.com for more information on how this type of program works.

Gift cards have certainly become big business. If you’re like millions of others, you probably passed out your share of gift cards this past holiday season. So while you may not be interested in using gift cards as an employee incentive system, let’s think about ways you can still cash in on the gift card bonanza.

Send a gift card or gift certificate to your best corporate client with a reminder about your upcoming promotions for the holidays. Your customer may use the card to send a gift basket to a friend or family member which in turn, could result in a new customer for you.

Put a $5 or $10 gift card or certificate in each basket that you design during the month of June. Let your customers know that in addtion to the delicious treats they always expect from you, the person who will get the basket will get an added “treat”. Hopefully, the recipient of your basket will stop in to see what you do and use the card for another purchase!

Take advantage of community activities over the summer months to distribute more gift cards or certificates. Contact the people who organize these events to see if you can distribute your certificates at the registration tables.

Finding new customers is a critical activity for any business and must be a regular part of your business plans. Please share your ideas about how gift cards or gift certificates might be used to promote your business!
