Shirley Frazier, host of a great blog, Gift Basket Business recently posted an entry about ribbons and how a beautiful bow can add an appealing enhancement to any basket design.

I have a general gifts site. Although I do carry gift baskets, I am trying to find a way to sell my other gifts such as automatic watch winders or picnic baskets and backpacks in a gift basket type of concept as well. Somehow I don’t think just putting a bow on them is enough. Do you have any suggestion?

There are several things to think about when assembling a gift basket: using quality products that your customers will appreciate, and packaging those products in an attractive, unique manner. Sometimes, a bow can be just enough if the products in the basket are already in beautiful boxes or special packaging. I suggest doing an internet search for “gift baskets” so that you can see how other gift basket assemblers are packing their products. Also, on my blog, look for the page titled “Industry Resources” for a list of trade magazines you can refer to for packaging ideas. Finally, under the “Blogroll” section, you’ll see some links to other sites that you can explore to get more ideas.
